MOTELX on Tour sets the horror in motion, on the road, in 2025. After the success of the
18th edition, from 10 to 16 September 2024, which once again reaffirmed MOTELX as the great film event of the Lisbon rentrée, the festival embarked on a chilling national and international tour. In the last months of 2024, MOTELX on Tour took the best of contemporary horror cinema to various parts of the country — and beyond — winning over audiences thirsty for excitement and adrenaline...
To
Pombal, MOTELX took a special selection of national and international short films, in the reunion with the local Cineclube, a few days before the HaHaArt Film Festival. Films like "Unicorn Hunting" and "Dance with the Devil" left a mark on brave audiences on October 16.
In
Sintra, the warm-up for Halloween took place on October 26th, with "Raging Grace" setting fire to the screen at the headquarters of the Sociedade Filarmônica Boa União Montelavarense.
In
Belfast, Portuguese horror crossed the sea to Northern Ireland, where at the iconic Pavilion Bar, on October 30, fans of the genre watched two remarkable works by Carlos Conceição: "Bad Bunny" and "Name Above Title", with the director present.
Santarém experienced two intense days of terror in partnership with the local Film Club. Between slashers and award-winning shorts — including "
The Procedure", winner of the 2024 MOTELX Award — Teatro Sá da Bandeira was the national epicenter of horror for the scary season.
Afterwards, MOTELX passed through
Leiria, where the Miguel Franco Theater hosted a day full of scares and surprises on October 31st, Halloween. From "Flow", an Oscar-winning animation that delighted young people, to the touching "Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person", the night ended with a dark smile on the lips of everyone present.
The international tour continued in
Luxembourg, where Gabriel Abrantes' "Amelia's Children" was shown at the local Cinematheque as part of the Portuguese Film Festival on November 14.
And in 2025, the tour continues!
The year began with a stop in
Moita, on the 24th and 25th of January, at the José Manuel Figueiredo Cultural Forum. The program featured national shorts such as "After Link", by Catarina Cézanne, and the Honorable Mention winner "Umbral", by Miguel Andrade, culminating with "Oddity", a feature film awarded the Méliès d'argent Prize, in a double night of scares and discoveries.
MOTELX on Tour continues to spread the spirit of the festival beyond the borders of the capital, with the commitment to bring the best of horror cinema to all regions.
