MOTELX on Tour goes to Ireland in 2024.

Having concluded its 18th edition in Lisbon, MOTELX On Tour 2024 will go to the United Kingdom, with a special stop in Belfast, Northern Ireland, where it will show two of the best titles in recent Portuguese horror cinema, with the presence of the director.
MOTELX On Tour 2024, after the conclusion of an 18th edition which was considered the biggest film event of the rentrée in Lisbon, travels to the United Kingdom, with a special stop in Belfast, Northern Ireland. At 8pm on October 30th, at the iconic Pavilion Bar, the "horror fiends" of the Emerald Island will have the opportunity to watch two of the most striking films of the contemporary portuguese horror cinema, both by director Carlos Conceição who will be present at the screening: "Bad Bunny" and "Name Above Title".

"Bad Bunny", from 2017, is a disturbing tale that explores the complexity of a dysfunctional family, where teenagers defy conventional moral norms, and plunges the viewer into a sinister universe of family tensions and confrontations. "Name Above Title", from 2020, is a dark comedy in which we follow the peaceful life of a serial killer in Lisbon, who sees his world turned upside down when an unexpected incident transforms him, with violent irony, in a social media celebrity. This irreverent thriller mixes elements of dark humor and social criticism.

Both films are signed by Carlos Conceição, one of the most relevant names in contemporary Portuguese horror cinematography. Born in Angola on August 5, 1979, during the Cold War, Carlos lived between the desert of southern Angola and Portugal before joining the Lisbon Film School in 2002. His first short film, "Carne", was distinguished with the Best New Talent award at Indie Lisboa in 2010. In 2013, "Versailles" premiered at the Locarno Festival, solidifying its presence on the international festival circuit. Carlos Conceição was also present at Cannes Critics' Week, with "Boa Noite Cinderela" (2014) and "Bad Bunny" (2017), both receiving enthusiastic reactions from critics and the public. His talent has already earned him complete retrospectives at the French Cinemateque, in Paris, and at the Amiens Film Festival, consolidating his reputation as one of the most innovative Portuguese filmmakers today.

MOTELX On Tour 2024, with support from the Portuguese Embassy in the United Kingdom and the Camões Institute, in partnership with the Ormeau Community Cinema, takes two emblematic titles of contemporary Portuguese horror cinema to the greenest island in the United Kingdom, to delight fans of the genre with an event scheduled for the Pavilion Bar in Belfast (Northern Ireland), on October 30th at 8pm, in the presence of the director.
