Gale Ann Hurd: Guest of Honor at MOTELX 2025, will receive the 1st Noémia Delgado Award
The 19th edition of MOTELX's program focuses intensely on the female condition and the representation of women in horror cinema, with the creation of the Noémia Delgado Award for Outstanding Women in Horror, which will be granted to Gale Anne Hurd, a prominent Hollywood producer responsible for numerous genre film classics.
At a time when words like "icon" and "legend" are thrown around somewhat flippantly, often without much substance or consequence, our guest of honor is, in fact, exactly that — for Gale Anne Hurd is indeed the legendary producer responsible for countless films that have most deeply marked our collective consciousness.
Taking her first steps in the entertainment industry under Roger Corman, where she began as an executive assistant at the independent production company New World Pictures and eventually became head of marketing, it was in 1984 that, alongside her future husband and creative partner James Cameron, she produced and co-wrote her first feature film: "The Terminator."
In an unrepeatable career, she produced films such as "Aliens," "The Abyss," "Terminator 2: Judgment Day," and "Armageddon." On the small screen, the founder of Valhalla Entertainment continues to make history as executive producer of the television phenomenon "The Walking Dead," cementing her reputation as true cinematic royalty and an unparalleled pioneer of genre films.
This year, MOTELX places the first Noémia Delgado Award for Outstanding Women in Horrorin the firm and visionary hands of Gale Anne Hurd — a tribute that finds her as its most just and luminous guardian.
