Dark Sunset: Warm-Up Party MOTELX 2025
On the afternoon/evening of September 5th (Friday), from 5 PM to 11 PM, MOTELX brings the Bombarda Gardens to life with a twilight Warm-Up Party featuring DJ a boy named sue and the Noise Dolls Club!
Let’s dance until the apocalypse... or at least until nightfall, with a celebration of (mind-bending / face-melting / rock’n’rolling) musical chaos, diving into every genre that makes your bones shake and makes you forget where you are… Not that it even matters.
On September 5th (Friday), from 5 PM to 11 PM, join us for a twilight celebration of secular rock as the MOTELX 2025 Warm-Up Party brings the Bombarda Gardens to life, featuring DJ a boy named sue and the Noise Dolls Club!
Kicking things off, we have Tiago André, aka DJ a boy named sue. Born in Coimbra and a DJ since 2001, he’s played in nearly every bar, club, and festival across Portugal, with numerous international gigs under his belt, including stops in Cannes, Macau, Oslo, Madrid, Barcelona, Lille, Marseille, and a tour through Italy with the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion.
He’s the mind behind radio shows such as Cocktail Mariachi (since 2004) and BBT Sun Rádio on Rádio Universidade de Coimbra, Café Mondo on East Side Radio, Ritmos Malditos on Rádio YéYé, and the segment Baú do Sue on Antena 3. He’s also the creator of iconic parties like Kaleidoscope – Trip On A Psych Night, Chills & Fever, and more recently, Kick it – Rock’n’Roll Dance Club. He’s the right-hand man of Paulo Furtado in his projects The Legendary Tigerman and Wraygunn.
His sets are known for their strong rock’n’roll core, venturing through sounds like Rhythm & Blues, Soul, Funk, 60s, Latin Grooves, Exotica, Psychedelia, Dub, and Tropical Rhythms, with occasional forays into electronic music. A true time machine that builds bridges between timeless classics and the cutting edge of contemporary sound.
In short: 21st century rock’n’roll gypsy time machine freakout!
Next up are Noise Dolls Club, a Rock’n’Roll Grrrl DJ Duo. The dance floor is their arena, erupting fiercely beneath their feet. Born from a promiscuous encounter between Rock, Punk, Industrial, Stoner, Electro, Crust, Heavy Metal, et cetera, et cetera—and everything else that sets hearts on fire, blows minds, destroys families, rips out eyes, captivates lost souls, and licks cobblestones—they were made to set the skeletons of night creatures reverberating to the sound of songs that shaped their generation—and many others.
They fight in the arena with the weapons they have. The goal: for no one to make it out without dirty feet and a heart pierced by the joy of dancing freely and recklessly, as if there were no tomorrow. And there just might not be. This could be sexy—if it weren’t all so painfully true.
Behind the decks, they duel in battles that leave bruises on your memory. Until the apocalypse comes crashing down on our heads, we have a date on a dance floor near you. With one certainty—both unsettling and comforting: even when the last spark of hope goes out, everything can still be fixed with a few good dance moves.
