In 2017, MOTELX opened the Festival with "Super Dark Times" by Kevin Phillips, awarded the filmmakers Alejandro Jodorowsky and Roger Corman with the statuette MOTELX - Masters of Terror. "Thursday Night" by Gonçalo Almeida won the MOTELX Award for Best Portuguese Horror Short, while the Best European Feature Film was awarded to "Cold Hell" by Stefan Ruzowitzky. The movies of the Festival were screened in the following categories:
