MOTELX 2024: Official Video

We finally reveal the official video for the 18th edition of MOTELX, where "evil whispers while the serpent dances on its back".
For the 18th edition of MOTELX, we once again partnered with the production company Playground, which assumed responsibility for the event's visual identity. The spot was created by the talented director, Rui Vieira, with photography direction by Bernardo Infante. The promotional film, captured in 35 mm and with a retro format, explores a poetic metaphor for the binomial between Beauty and Horror.

The concept revolves around the lyrics “evil whispers while the serpent dances on its back” which not only guides the soundtrack, but also the entire visual narrative of the video. This powerful theme serves as the foundation for the Festival's communication, bringing a unique and engaging atmosphere that reflects the essence of MOTELX.

Playground's work and Rui Vieira's artistic vision come together with the art of designer Pedro B. Maia, responsible for this year's poster, which unfolds in several versions – as it happens in the spot itself – some of which were presented on the 15th of July, the day of the MOTELX 2024 Programming Preview.

The poster is inspired by the aesthetics of the 70s, evoking the motorcycling movement and the imagery of the occult and the satanic universe. This visual style is carefully chosen to reproduce the mystery and fascination that surrounds the Festival's very identity.

This new edition of MOTELX stands out, therefore, for its striking visual image and its commitment to offering a rich and deep cinematic narrative, celebrating horror in all its forms.

After revealing the graphic image and the spot teaser at the Presentation Session held on July 15th, at Cinema São Jorge, we now present the complete version of the film.
