Berlin, before the fall of the Wall. On returning from a trip, Marc finds his wife, Anna, emotionally distraught and determined to leave him. Consumed by despair, he descends into a spiral of obsession and madness. When he discovers that Anna has also broken up with her lover, he embarks on an investigation that leads him to a truth as disturbing as it is monstrous. Inspired by the director’s own painful divorce, “Possession” transforms the breakdown of a relationship into a psychological and physical nightmare. With a divided Berlin serving as its symbolic backdrop, the film blends intimate horror with political tension, using the Wall as a metaphor for separation and alienation. Regarded as one of the most radical and enigmatic works in horror film, it continues to challenge and unsettle audiences more than forty years after its release.
