A film by Yusuke Iwasaki

Japan, 2026, 88'

Sakai is the assistant manager of a convenience store in Tokyo, where each day unfolds in a mechanical routine of difficult customers, rigid rules, and a growing sense of alienation. Outside work, he divides his time between streaming, doomscrolling, and meaningless dates arranged through dating apps, as his life seems to be reduced only to the sterile aisles of AnyMart. But the arrival of a new employee and the suicide of the store manager, Imai, trigger a series of inexplicable events that transform the shop into a haunted space where the boundaries between life and death become increasingly blurred. Blending horror, absurd comedy, and social satire, “AnyMart", the feature debut by Yusuke Iwasaki, which competed at the Berlinale, turns a convenience store into a stage for precarity, loneliness, and the ghosts of late capitalism, both in Japan and in the rest of the world.
