Exhibition HOTEL PASTICHE
Hotels have always been places of suspended stories. Spaces where identities intersect, where time slows down and where reality seems, for a few moments, to give way to fiction. Perhaps that is why cinema has repeatedly chosen them as the setting for some of its most unforgettable images.
In Hotel Pastiche, João Telmo explores this imaginative world through ten photographs created for MOTELX. Each work takes as its starting point a film scene set in a hotel, not to reproduce it, but to reinvent it. Between quotation and creation, the images evoke cinematic memories without depending on them. They are standalone photographs, constructed as small visual enigmas, in which the viewer recognises fragments of film history while being invited to imagine a different narrative.
The Hotel Pastiche exhibition celebrates cinema through photography and photography through cinema, transforming the collective memory of images into a renewed visual experience.
