"Propriedade" Ticket Giveaway
"Propriedade", by Daniel Bandeira, originally shown for the first time among us at the 17th edition of MOTELX, finally has its national premiere scheduled for May 1, 2025. Check out the winners of the double tickets for screenings of the film in Lisbon and Porto, between May 1 and 4.
MOTELX and Nitrato Filmes join forces to promote the national premiere of one of the most impressive Portuguese-speaking horror works of recent years, which began its journey in Portugal at the 2023 edition of the Lisbon International Horror Film Festival: "Propriedade", by Daniel Bandeira, who was our guest of honor. We gave away 10 double invitations (5 for Lisbon, 5 for Porto) for any screening of this film, between May 1st and 4th, at Cinemas City Alvalade (Lisbon) and Cinema Trindade (Porto).
This disturbing work of social commentary had its world premiere at the Rio Festival in 2022, and had its first screening in Portugal at the 17th edition of MOTELX. It is the second feature film directed by Daniel Bandeira and was very well received by the public and film critics, who praised the instinct to question the status quo and the narrative and technical staging of the horror of the class struggle. Its first national screening, held with MOTELX in Room 3 of Cinema São Jorge on September 15, 2023, was followed by a Q&A moment with the filmmaker, where several questions were asked about the making and message of the film.
To be eligible to win tickets for the premiere of this innovative work, participants had to follow the Instagram/Facebook pages of MOTELX and Nitrato Filmes and be the first to correctly answer the question indicated in the competition post, sending the answer to the email «passatempos@motelx.org», along with their name, ID/CC number and information about the cinema and time of the desired session.

After being the victim of a hostage situation, Teresa lives under a kind of house arrest in her home. Knowing that she is still very traumatized, her husband offers her a top-of-the-line armored car and convinces her to go to the family farm. However, shortly after arriving at the property, the workers – informed that they will have to leave the land that has been sold and tired of years of exploitation – occupy the farm at gunpoint. While Roberto is taken hostage, Teresa flees to the car, where she is cornered.
With stunning photography reminiscent of a Western, Daniel Bandeira's film reopens the dialogue between the filmic and the real, alluding to the disparity between social classes, the colonial past and structural racism in Brazil, through a violent persecution. Premieres in Portugal at MOTELX, after having been shown in one of the most prestigious sections of the Berlinale (Panorama) in 2023.
