Warm-up MOTELX: Full Program 2025

Between the dance floor and the playfulness of filmmaking, MOTELX kicks off with three days of warm-up events to prepare both body and mind.
Let’s stretch our spirit before the start of another MOTELX!

On the 80th anniversary of the death of Egas Moniz, the doctor who founded the Júlio de Matos Hospital, we gather to discuss mental health in the very place where those suffering from psychological disorders were once left without the care they deserved. Afterwards, we move on to the screening of "Misery", Stephen King’s chilling adaptation that reveals the dark side of an enraged fan’s obsession.

The following day, it’s time to dance to alternative and disruptive sounds with DJ sets by A Boy Named Sue and the Noise Dolls Club. Expect rock’n’roll and plenty of reasons not to go home after work.

And after a well-spent night, parents can drop off their kids at Cinemateca Portuguesa for a cinema workshop, where they’ll get the chance to create a collaborative film under the guidance of filmmaker and visual artist Bruno Gramaxo.
