Lisbon, 10 May 2017 - MOTELX - Lisbon International Horror
Film Festival has received the seal of quality 2017-2018 awarded by Europe For
Festivals, Festivals for Europe (EFFE), project initiated by the European
Festivals Association (EFA), an international festival community connecting
festivals that are deeply committed to the arts, their communities and Europe.
The Festival’s application was first evaluated by the
Hub of Experts, the national jury, and later approved by the International
Jury, presided by Sir Jonathan Mills, composer and director of the Edinburgh
International Culture Summit, a biennial meeting recognized by UNESCO.
MOTELX, thus,
continues to be a part of the EFFE community, which consists of festivals that
stand for artistic quality and have a local, national, and international
impact, after having received the label in its first edition (2015-2016).
“Over the years, MOTELX has proved a strong artistic engagement. It
benefits not only contemporary cinematographic creation but also the promotion
of the genre's unique heritage through carefully thought retrospectives and
special programs. Moreover, this
Festival has shown evidence of local and national engagement, as well as at
European and international level”, said the International Jury and Hub of
Experts.
“This news makes us extremely motivated to continue
our mission of encouraging national production and promoting the best of horror
cinema produced worldwide. It is an honour to continue to be recognized for the
Festival’s artistic impact both for its films and various activities and events
that make up the programme of each edition”, said João Monteiro, one of the
MOTELX’s directors.
MOTELX’s 11th edition is from 5 to 10
September 2017, at the Cinema São Jorge, Teatro Tivoli BBVA, Cinemateca Júnior
and other places in the city, such as Largo de São de Carlos and Cais do Sodré.
