MOTELX On Tour 2025 in Belfast with ‘Keep Me Company’

After its 19th edition, MOTELX On Tour 2025 takes Portuguese horror on tour, with a special screening in Belfast, Northern Ireland, where Gonçalo Almeida's ‘Keep Me Company’ will be shown.
After an unforgettable 19th edition, MOTELX On Tour 2025 is embarking on an international tour to take the best of Portuguese horror beyond borders. The first stop will be on the Emerald Isle, with a special screening in Belfast, Northern Ireland. On 15 October, at 8 pm, the Pavilion Bar will host the screening of the feature film ‘Keep Me Company’ (2019), director Gonçalo Almeida's first foray into the long format.

Filmed in southern Portugal, the film follows Sílvia, who rents a house for the weekend in order to meet her secret lover, Clara. Between dips in the pool and sunbathing, the idyllic atmosphere begins to crumble with the emergence of strange events that reveal a mysterious evil. After winning the MOTELX Award for short films in 2017 with ‘Thursday Night’ — a story of canine ghosts screened at Sundance — and having framed the fate of humanity in the eyes of a spider in his latest short film ‘Atom & Void’, Gonçalo Almeida makes his feature film debut with ‘Faz-me Companhia’, a disturbing narrative about intimacy and haunting.

The screening will feature a special appearance by lead actress Cleia Almeida and is organised in partnership with Ormeau Community Cinema, with the support of Camões – Institute for Cooperation and Language. MOTELX On Tour will continue to promote Portuguese horror cinema abroad throughout 2025, reinforcing its commitment to the internationalisation of unique voices and visions of the genre.
