MOTELX 2015: first announcements!

On the 21st of June MOTELX announced the first highlights of the 9th Edition, which this year runs from 8 to 13 of September.
This year MOTELX has an extra day (8-13 of September) and a pre-festival warm-up week that includes live music, open air screenings, exhibits and horror parades all around the most famous spots in the Lisbon nighttime.


With programming being the centre of attention it was also announced that «The Visit» the latest film from M. Night Shyamalan will be the opening film in the Room Service section, which will also feature «Turbo Kid», by Anouk Whissell
In the Lost Room section two features will have restored copy that haven't been screened for more than 40 years - «A Caçada do Malhadeiro» and «Sinal Vermelho».
Also, the kids section Big Bad Wolf will also have activities, among them a ghost hunt around Cinema São Jorge.


There is also space for Portuguese horror. This year the winner of the MOTELX MOV Award for Best Portuguese Horror Short gets €5,000 , the biggest prize for short film competitions in Portugal.
An achievement allowed by the partnership with Canal MOV as the prize sponsor.

Another highlight it the announcement of guest of honour Roger Corman, one of the most beloved and respected independent filmmakers of all time, who will visit Lisbon and the Festival.

At the same time, during the Festival's six days, audiences will be able to attend a book launch, participate in a make-up workshop with Dave Bonneywell (make up artist in «Hellboy 2: The Golden Army», Troy», «Seed of Chucky» and «Clash of the Titans»); learn how cinema started in the optical toys workshop with Bruno Caetano, who will also curate the exhibit "Classical Monsters of Terror"; visit in Adamastor Studios gallery in Avenidad da Liberdade the exhibit "House of Psychotic Women”, among others.

Right in front of Cinema São Jorge, Lounge MINI will provide a fun space away from the screening rooms with DJ sets and VJs with the best horror film selection.
