The
Méliès International Festivals Federation (MIFF) is a network of 30 film festivals, based in 21 different countries, which includes our MOTELX – Lisbon International Horror Film Festival. Its declared mission, which we share and profess, is the
promotion and dissemination of fantasy and genre cinema, with special emphasis on European productions, in cinephile circles around the world.
Our Federation is
now publishing the second edition of its MIFF Magazine, once again specially
dedicated to the 2025 Cannes International Film Festival. There are over 60 exquisite pages full of
relevant and current film content, dedicated exclusively to genre cinema – with interviews, film news and highlights from the various film festivals that make up the network.

The focus of this second edition is the
presence and impact of genre cinema in Cannes, interpreted and developed in an
interview with Guillaume Esmiol, the executive director of the Marché du Film at the Cannes Festival. The
tendency to reinvent genre cinema in cinematographies from countries that are usually less visible in this context,
from "Brazil to Bollywood", is also the target of meticulous analysis in in-depth research carried out by MIFF. And, still and always, the issue of
Artificial Intelligence and its effects on genre film production finds space for debate here.
A carefully curated overview of current fantasy cinema, as well as the ideas and trends that underpin it worldwide, is what this MIFF Magazine #2 has to offer, free of charge and just a click away.
