Lisbon, 24 August 2018: MOTELX - Lisbon International Horror Film Festival has revealed the full programme for this year's edition which will take place from 4 to 9 September at Cinema São Jorge. Leigh Whannell, creator of "Saw" and "Insidious", is among the guests of this 12th edition, which opens doors with the exclusive preview of the terrifying "The Nun."

Leigh Whannell will be present at MOTELX 2018 to present his latest work, the film "Upgrade." Also attending the screening of their latest films are Pascal Laugier and Xavier Gens, directors of "Cold Skin" and "Ghostland", respectively, who will meet to discuss the peculiarities of French horror.

The director of "Verónica" and "REC", Paco Plaza is another highlight of the guests attending MOTELX this year, as well as Yann Gonzalez, director of "Knife+Heart", Oliver Kienle with "Four Hands" and British director Andy Nyman who will attend the screening of "Ghost Stories". "Luz" by Tilman Singer, John McPhail's "Anna and the Apocalypse", Lukas Feigelfeld's "Hagazussa" and Paul Urkijo's "Errementari" will also be shown at the Festival in the presence of its directors.

Solveig Nordlund, Swedish filmmaker, who directed "Low-flying apparatus", will be honoured in the Lost Room section. This is the first time that this section, which unveils the best of Portuguese genre cinema, will be entirely dedicated to only one filmmaker.

And because cinema is not only made of directors, MOTELX will also feature composer Stephen Thrower, who will be a jury at the Festival, and the Luso-descendant costume designer Luís Sequeira, who will be holding a masterclass about wardrobe in horror films and share a little of his journey, culminating with an Oscar nomination for "The Shape of Water".

Another great moment of this edition will be the opening, on 4 September, with the long awaited "The Nun". This exclusive screening will be accessible through direct invitations and competitions: those interested in seeing Corin Hardy's latest movie first hand will have to pay close attention to MOTELX's social networks and that of this screening's partners. The competitions will be launched in the upcoming days.

National horror will take to the stage 12 Portuguese short films competing for the MOTELX Award - Best Portuguese Horror Short Film and two feature films will compete for the first time for the MOTELX Award - Best European Horror Feature Film / Méliès d'Argent.

All these films will be accompanied by a wide range of activities, for kids and adults. Between 31 August and 1 September, the Warm-up initiatives will take place.

The tickets for MOTELX 2018 are already available on Ticketline and all partner points of sale. The Cinema São Jorge box office will open on 27 August.

Programme and schedule on PDF will be available very soon.
