Vermin

A film by Sébastien Vaniček

France, 2023, 103'

Kaleb is a young adult who makes a living from small jobs. Fascinated by exotic animals, he finds a poisonous spider in a bazaar and brings it back to his flat. However, in a very short time, the spider escapes and reproduces, turning the place into a terrible web trap. At the same time, the police locks down the building where the residents are trapped. The only option for Kaleb and his little mates will be to find their way out in order to survive. Eco-horror reaches the outskirts of big cities, in this proposal by Sebástien Vanicek, an intense exercise in suspense set entirely in the poor Parisian suburbs, which makes "Vermin" seem like the child born of a marriage between "La Haine" and "Arachnophobia". Premiered at the Venice Film Festival.
