The Pianist

A film by Nuno Bernardo

Portugal, 2025, 98'

Ana, a former professional pianist, is devastated by the tragic and sudden death of her husband, Jorge. Isolated on a farm in Alentejo, Ana has only her teenage son, Pedro, for company. To cope with this loss, she decides to return to her passion for playing the piano, an activity she abandoned when she decided to get married and become a mother. During her grieving process, Ana receives a call from a cloning company, whose legislation was recently passed. We inform her that her late husband needed this service. Initially horrified by the idea of cloning Jorge, loneliness and the difficulty in dealing with Pedro, who is constantly angry, eventually leads Ana to accept Jorge's wishes, and he resurfaces in her life. The family is reunited, but the conflicts and tensions that existed before Jorge's death quickly return. To make matters worse, the Civil Police knock on Ana's door, claiming that her late husband may be linked to the disappearance of several young people in the region. Full of doubts and divided about her feelings for Jorge, Ana faces her greatest fears and begins a journey in search of the truth.
