The Gruesome Twosome

A film by Herschell Gordon Lewis

USA, 1967, 72'

In “The Gruesome Twosome”, before the arrival of the counterculture movement, young people indulge in leisure activities in dorm rooms, car races, at the beach, and in drive-ins. Some eventually fall victim to a wig shop, where the owner and her son await them to collect their scalps. Between graphic vio lence and dark humor — Herschell Gordon Lewis’s trademark recipe — the owner is portrayed as a kind old lady, concerned with the growth of her business and torn between the love for her son and for a por celain cat.
