Some time ago, Marta and Jaime, a young childless couple, exchanged the hustle and bustle of the city for the tranquility of the countryside. It was within this apparent tranquility
that one day, a neighbor, having to go to Lisbon, asked them
to temporarily look after his daughter Beatriz. Amid the chirping of birds
and the gentle flow of the stream, the tranquility they had grown accustomed to was
suddenly shattered by the nocturnal appearance of a strange animal. Unsure
if the child's presence is somehow related to
a series of bizarre occurrences, the couple must question past, present,
and future as they venture into a dangerous game of shadows that reveals itself to be as real as it is terrifying. After several forays into the short film format,
Portuguese filmmaker Jorge Cramez ("The Golden Helmet") finally debuts
a horror feature, returning to the love dilemma, this time under the guise
of folk horror, in a film that promises a disturbing immersion into the dark
metamorphosis of bucolic Portuguese life.
