Shadows

Sombras

A film by Jorge Cramez

Portugal, 2025, 104'

Some time ago, Marta and Jaime, a young childless couple, exchanged the hustle and bustle of the city for the tranquility of the countryside. It was amidst this apparent tranquility that, one day, a neighbor, having to travel to Lisbon, asked to temporarily look after his daughter, Beatriz. Amid the chirping of birds and the gentle flow of the stream, the tranquility they had grown accustomed to was suddenly shattered by the nocturnal appearance of a strange animal. Unsure if the child's presence was somehow related to a series of bizarre occurrences, the couple must question the past, present, and future as they venture into a dangerous play of shadows that proves to be as real as it is terrifying. After several forays into the short film format, Portuguese filmmaker Jorge Cramez ("O Capacete Dourado") finally makes his debut with a horror feature, returning to the romantic dilemma, this time under the guise of folk horror, in a film that promises a disturbing immersion into the dark metamorphosis of bucolic Portuguese life.
