Emily is a patient at an experimental psychiatric facility where a brain implant prototype allows her to relive her dreams. Premiered at the Cannes Semaine de la Critique 2010, this short-film by Brandon Cronenberg is a journey through the three circles of Emily’s personal hell, marked by the contrast between light and neutral colours, different textures and visually deafening special effects. The technical richness and the masterful photography by Hussain intensify the anxiety of the dilution between consciousness, subconsciousness and free will.
