Pig that Survived Foot-and-Mouth Disease

South Korea, 2024, 105'

After barely surviving foot-and-mouth disease, armed only with his survival instinct and in an attempt to evade his fate, a pig seeks to become completely human. At the same time, the tormented Choi Jeong-Seok deserts from the military after murdering his superior. In his eagerness to abandon his anguish, he takes refuge in nature, where he will be able to reconcile with his animal side. It is there that he meets Yoo Ji-Eun, a student who has chosen the mountains as her place to commit suicide. South Korean Hur Bum-wook writes and directs this fearless, beautifully designed and at times evocative parable of the animated classic Watership Down, which delves into the sinister frailties of a way of life that has long since become unsustainable. Eco-horror is alive and well, both on earth and in the movies.
