Missing Child Videotape

A film by Ryota Kondo

Japan, 2024, 104'

Keita’s younger brother mysteriously vanished in the mountains they used to roam together. One day, his mother hands him a cassette tape containing grainy, cryptic footage that appears to capture the very moment of the event that has haunted him ever since — a revelation that compels him to retrace his steps into a past that hovers but never settles. Ryota Kondo’s debut feature expands on his award-winning short film of the same name and was made with the support of Takashi Shimizu, creator of the “Ju-On” franchise — better known internationally as “The Grudge”. Fittingly, "Missing Child Videotape" ech oes the golden era of J-Horror from the late 1990s and early 2000s. Having studied under Hiroshi Takahashi, the acclaimed screenwriter of “Ringu”, Ryota Kondo now emerges as a bold new voice in horror, devoted to the art of keeping us up at night.
