Kennedy

A film by Anurag Kashyap

India, 2022, 143'

Uday Shetty is an insomniac ex-cop consumed by his desire for revenge and his appetite for killing. His pseudo-job as an uber is just a cover for what he really does: contract assassinations, requested by the head of his old precinct. In fact, Shetty (now known as "Kennedy") operates in the shadows at night, not only because it's the vampire hour, but because he's been declared dead - it's always easier to eliminate politicians, businessmen and celebrities when you don't legally exist. This neo-noir thriller escorts us through the dark nights and streets of Mumbai, shocking us with the violence of a system in which it's not clear who the real bloodsuckers are. 11 years after the screening of "Gangs of Wasseypur" at Cannes Directors' Fortnight, considered by The Guardian to be one of the best 100 films of the 21st century, Anurag Kashyap returned to Cannes to premiere "Kennedy" on the Festival's midnights.
