From the same producers as "Get Out", directed by Jordan Peele - a film that among many other awards earned four Academy nominations, of which won Best Screenplay - "It Lives Inside" is the bone-chilling debut feature film of Bishal Dutta, joining the growing and precious repertoire of narratives that fuse the emigrant experience with supernatural horror. Sam just wants to fit into her - mostly white and Christian - high school and be normal, even if she has to reject her Indian culture and family to do so. But when her old childhood friend Tamira is subjugated to the wickedness of a mythological demon, the girl will have to make amends with her origins in order to defeat it. Winner of SXSW's Midnighter Audience Award 2023, "It Lives Inside" unexpectedly combines the paranormal and Hindu folklore with the conventional features of a coming-of-age film.
