Every Heavy Thing

A film by Mickey Reece

USA, 2025, 89'

Young women are disappearing in Hightown City. One night, Joe, quite literally a “regular Joe” who sells ads for a dying local newspaper, finds himself pulled into the heart of a conspiracy after witnessing a murder. As his colleague begins investigating the strange wave of events tearing the city apart, Joe is forced to reconsider his relationship with his community — and the price of a secret left untold. This sharp, darkly witty thriller, steeped in lo-fi, retro imagery yet fully attuned to the spirit of the present, marks the latest offering from Mickey Reece, one of the boldest and most idiosyncratic voices in contemporary genre cinema. It features standout performances from Josh Fadem (“Twin Peaks”, “Better Call Saul”), Vera Drew (“The People’s Joker”), James Urbaniak (“American Splendor”), John Ennis (“Zodiac”), and none other than horror royalty Barbara Crampton (“Re-Animator”).
