Elliot (Paul Rudd) and his teenage daughter Ridley (Jenna Ortega) are on their way to visit Elliot’s boss, Leopold (Richard E. Grant), when they find themselves irreparably catapulted into fantastical territory when they run over a baby unicorn. When they decide to take the creature to Leopold’s house, they are unaware that its blood and the scrapings from its horn have medicinal properties. Leopold, the CEO of a major pharmaceutical company, quickly senses the opportunity to profit from the discovery, planning to market it to the elite. “It’s like the characters in Succession meet the Deer God from Princess Mononoke,” says newcomer Alex Scharfman, setting the tone for this biting cartoon, bathed in caustic humor and winking at ’80s camp, which depicts a contemporary society grappling with its own insatiability.
