Thingy

A film by Jae Matthews

USA, 2026, 87'

A young woman agrees to attend a party at an isolated house, but her main goal is to avoid her ex-boyfriend, who has also been invited. Her plan to keep a low profile suffers a slight complication when a supernatural virus begins spreading among the guests. As the party grows increasingly chaotic and the attendees begin displaying unusual symptoms, the threat turns a night of alcohol, unresolved relationships and terrible decisions into a matter of survival. Directed by Jae Matthews and produced by Joe Swanberg, Thingy combines body horror, black comedy and the familiar setup of a party gone very, very wrong. Its premise mixes supernatural infection with toxic relationships in something resembling It Follows relocated to a suburb where nobody seems particularly concerned about hygiene. A contagion horror in which, finally, avoiding your ex may be the easiest part of the night.
