Day is a prop assistant working on the shooting of a commercial in an old swimming pool no longer in use. When the shooting wraps, the young man is the last one to leave, falling asleep on an inflatable mattress while the water is being drained. When he wakes up, it’s too late. With no stairs to climb, and just when he thought his situation couldn’t get any worse, a crocodile approaches the pool. “The Pool” is Ping Lumpraloeng’s first horror feature, after a career devoted to comedy and romance. An improbable and minimalist survival, shot in a single setting, the film seems to ask us to go a bit further than usual with our suspension of disbelief. 12 months of visual effects and post-production were able to create a believable and terrifying crocodile.
