Shota and three university friends decide to test their courage with a nighttime visit to a haunted cemetery hidden in a forest and known for its cursed tree. The setting is sinister enough to make anyone reconsider their life choices, but the real trouble begins when Ann starts uttering strange words and behaving irrationally. The following day, she disappears, and the remaining friends begin to be haunted by terrifying visions of a ghostly woman. Directed by Takashi Shimizu, the master of J-horror and Ju-On, The Mouths is an atmospheric supernatural horror that favours unease over cheap scares. Adapted from Sesuji’s novella “A Questionnaire About the Mouth”, the film had its North American premiere at Fantasia 2026.
