In rural Spain in the 1980s, Philippe, a ten-year-old French boy, travels by caravan with his parents, Marie, who is pregnant, and Tomás, a Spanish immigrant who has decided to return to the village where he grew up to introduce his son to his roots. A breakdown forces the family to stop at an old repair shop on the outskirts of a deserted village, where they meet Alicia and Miguel, a couple haunted by the disappearance of their son Gabriel. While Miguel is consumed by guilt over the tragic night when his alcoholism left his son unprotected, Alicia seems to deny what happened, frozen in time. The encounter between the two families sets in motion a one-way journey into the darkest side of human nature, in a rural thriller (reminiscent of F. Javier Gutiérrez’s 2023 film “The Wait”), where guilt, grief and superstition become entangled beneath the relentless sun of inland Spain.
