A film by Julie Delpy

France, Germany, 2009, 98'

The true story of Countess Bathory born in 1560. At the age of 14, she married a powerful warlord, ten years her senior. Despite the relationship becoming cold and distant, they had four children. After her husband's death, she falls in love with an attractive young man who goes abroad, leaving her five years waiting for him. In desperation, she begins bathing in virgin blood, convinced it would bring her eternal youth and beauty, setting in motion a series of treacherous and bloody events that led to her downfall. Second feature film by actress Julie Delpy, who tries to humanize the "bloody countess" through her personal and intimate story with a luxurious cast that, in addition to Delpy in the role of the Countess, includes William Hurt and Daniel Brühl. Premiered at the Berlin Film Festival in 2009.
