Produced by Luciano Martino, Sergio Martino’s brother, the film follows Lisa Baumer (Ida Galli), the widow of a businessman killed in a plane explosion, who travels to Athens to collect the proceeds of her husband’s life insurance. Meanwhile, the narrative takes a tragic turn, and the investigation is taken up by a journalist (Anita Strindberg) and an insurance investigator (George Hilton). In a plot driven by greed, could the black-gloved killer be a false lead? Screenwriter Ernesto Gastaldi loosely drew inspiration from the Fenaroli case, a real crime that took place in Rome in the 1950s. Partially shot in Greece, the film moves away from the giallo’s usual landscapes, culminating in the underwater waters of a Mediterranean island.
