“She Loved Blossoms More” follows three brothers who build an unusual time machine to bring their long-dead mother back to life. When their father enters the picture, the scientific experiments go wrong and they enter a psychedelic hellish dimension where past and present merge in a comic – but disturbing – exploration of grief. The first Greek feature film in competition at MOTELX offers a visually delirious psychedelic journey, especially considering that all of its action takes place in the same setting. Director Yannis Veslemes is influenced by the visionary universes of authors like Marc Caro and Jean-Pierre Jeunet (the presence of Dominique Pinon in this film points in that direction), but also by the baroque colour palette in the style of Bava or Argento’s giallo, creating a unique aesthetic object.
