Rini has been living in her grandmother’s house with her parents and three younger brothers after they had to sell their own house to buy medication for their mother, who has been mysteriously ill for years. After his mother dies, Rini’s father goes to a faraway town to work. Soon, they sense that their late mother has come back to the house. Things get worse when the children realise that she has returned not just to visit but to take them with her. “Satan’s Slaves” is a remake of the film of the same name directed in 1980 by Sisworo Gautama Putra. It was the most profitable Indonesian film of 2017 and the fourth most profitable local box office film ever. Joko Anwar (“Forbidden Door”, MOTELX 2010) in interview said he’s preparing a sequel of a future “Satan’s Slaves” trilogy.
