Rome, 1982. Eddie, a French actress who has already enjoyed success in Hollywood, arrives in the Italian capital accompanied by her make-up artist and friend Valentina to star in a science-fiction film that may be the last of her career. Between studios, divas, creatures and the ghosts of an Italian cinema in constant transformation, the production begins to blur the film within the film with Eddie’s own reality. Directed by Bertrand Mandico, Roma Elastica is a delirious dramatic comedy that crosses horror, science fiction and genre cinema to pay tribute to the great masters and legends of Italian filmmaking. Starring Marion Cotillard and Noémie Merlant, the film premiered in Cannes’ Midnight Screenings in 2026. A cinematic kaleidoscope blending Fellini, Fulci and Mandico — because a film shoot in Rome has never exactly been known for restraint.
