Murder Me, Monster

Muere, Monstruo, Muere

A film by Alejandro Fadel

Argentina/France/Chile, 2018, 109'

Police officer Cruz, from a small rural community, investigates the bizarre case of a headless woman’s body found in a remote region of the Andes Mountains. David, the husband of Cruz’s lover, Francisca, becomes the prime suspect and is sent to a local mental hospital. He blames the crime to the inexplicable and brutal appearance of a mysterious entity. Cruz stumbles upon a peculiar theory involving geometric landscapes, mountain motorcyclists and a mantra stuck in his head: Murder Me, Monster. Another sign of the vigour in Latin-American horror cinema, which could very well become in the next years the new centre of world horror. This second feature by Argentinian Alejandro Fadel had the honour of world premiering in Cannes, in the Un Certain Regard section, and shares similarities with the Mexican “The Untamed”, screened at MOTELX last year.
