A film by Ari Aster

USA, Sweden, 2019, 147'

Dani and Christian are a young American couple with a relationship at risk. But after a family tragedy keeps them together, a grieving Dani invites herself to join Christian and his friends on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to the midsummer festival in a remote Swedish village. What begins as a carefree holiday in the land of eternal sunlight takes a sinister turn when the insular villagers invite their guests to partake in festivities that render the pastoral paradise increasingly unnerving and viscerally disturbing. Ari Aster, director of “Hereditary”, brings us a solar horror film that Jordan Peele believes has surpassed “The Wicker Man” as the most iconic pagan horror. It was this year’s highest grossing independent premiere in the US.
