After the success of "X" and "Pearl", both released in 2022, Ti West returns to MOTELX with one of the most eagerly awaited films of the year: "MaXXXine", the third instalment in the "X" series. It's 1985. We're in the city where all dreams come true: Los Angeles. Six years after Maxine Minx survived the bloody massacre on Pearl and Howard's remote farm. It's the era of home video and VHS, American puritanism clashes with pop culture and ZZ Top's "Eliminator" is playing on every radio station. The character that Mia Goth – West's muse, who has now established herself as one of the undeniable figures of contemporary genre cinema – plays auditions for the B-series horror film "The Puritan II". It's the chance of a lifetime, the possibility of abandoning the porn industry and late-night peep shows to become who she was born to be: a famous Hollywood actress. But, as no one becomes a star without a dash of chaos, Maxine finds herself cornered on all fronts: either by a strange private detective (Kevin Bacon), or by the Night Stalker (a serial killer who actually existed), or by two LAPD officers investigating the murder of her friends. We know what happens to anyone who gets in Maxine's way, but do they? Or, more importantly: does she?
