1983. Somewhere in an isolated area of the Shadow Mountains in California, woodcutter Red Miller lives in love with the charming and mysterious Mandy Bloom. But the
quiet life he has built for himself collapses suddenly and tragically as an unruly group
of idolaters furiously invade their idyllic paradise. Shattered, Red’s existence now boils
down to one thought: revenge. Premiered at Sundance and screened at the Cannes Film Festival Directors' Fortnight, the long-awaited second film by Panos Cosmatos ("Beyond the Black Rainbow") stars Nicolas Cage, but retains the ability to induce alternative states of consciousness in the viewer. It is also the last film to feature the music of the ill-fated Icelandic composer Jóhann Jóhannsson.
