When a group of teenagers remove a medallion from the ruins of a fire tower in the middle of a forest, the body of a vengeful spirit – instigated by a horrible crime that happened 60 years ago – is resurrected. The masked undead will do anything to recover his amulet, slaughtering, one by one, the young people responsible for the theft – as well as everything that gets in his way. Despite the narrative premise (clearly) inherited from the classics "Friday the 13th", "Halloween" and "Nightmare on Elm Street", this Canadian ambient slasher, premiered on the midnights of Sundance 2024, reinvigorates the genre with an original, almost anthropological cinematographic approach that sometimes makes you wonder whether you're in the presence of the mise-en-scéne of a horror film or of a wildlife documentary. Either way, Johnny's unrelenting violence is a (super)natural and irresistible catastrophe.
