Get Out

Get Out

A film by Jordan Peele

USA, 2017, 104'

Chris and Rose have been dating for some time now and she thinks the time has come to introduce him to his parents. She then decides to invite him to the family reunion her parents organise every year in their home, in a rural area of the USA. Despite Chris' reluctance, Rose thinks there is no reason to inform them in advance that he is black. When he gets there, despite all the sympathy he is treated with, Chris realises something very strange is going on in that house. Jordan Peele gives wings to his love of genre cinema in this reinterpretation of “The Stepford Wives”, where he replaces sexual gender with race to question the concept of “post-racial era” after 2 terms with Barack Obama. It won him an Oscar for Best Screenplay for one of the few horror films nominated for Best Picture.
