The world seems to be coming to an end, covered in the vestiges left by human presence. Cat is a solitary animal, but when its home is devastated by a catastrophic flood, it finds refuge on a boat populated by various species with whom it will have to cooperate, despite their differences. On this drifting boat, which floats through mystical and flooded landscapes, the animals will have to navigate the challenges and dangers of adapting to this new world. With thermometers breaking new records every month, the new animation by Latvian Gints Zilbalodis (“Away”) hides an important lesson among the silences of cute animals: only together will we be able to survive the climate crisis. Premiered in the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival, “Flow” sails to Lisbon after conquering the hearts of the public and jury at the world’s biggest animation festival, the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.
