A film by Lars von Trier

Denmark, 1987, 102'

For the last year and a half, a director and a screenwriter have been writing the script for a horror film in which an epidemic is spreading all over the world. What they don't realise is that a real epidemic is developing around them. The second film in the “Europa” trilogy, between “The Element of Crime” and “Europa”, “Epidemic” is a film about making a film about an epidemic. Lars von Trier and Niels Vørsel play themselves endlessly going over a script in which the scenes are interspersed with the narrative, with Trier playing a doctor looking for a vaccine for the epidemic. The film also marks the beginning of the collaboration between the Danish filmmaker and Paul Morrissey's favourite actor, Udo Kier.
