It was in hotel rooms, sheltered from the outside world, that Dario Argento created his most acclaimed films. Today, in a hotel room in the centre of Rome, he is writing his latest. This time, however, he's not alone. Today, according to his agent, he decides to return to a hotel to finish his new script and to be interviewed, filmed, and followed by a crew that is shooting a film about him. Argento doesn't initially feel at ease within this structure, struggling to find tranquillity both to finish writing his film and to confide in those who are interviewing him. But the demon of cinema, which has never abandoned him, has followed him here, and will once again lead him to give himself over completely. It is through the director's own words and the exploration of the three cornerstones of his work – isolation, doubles, and panic – that this documentary reconstructs Dario Argento's life from his birth to his recognition as one of the greatest filmmakers of all time.
