Malu organises a gender-reveal party for a pregnant influencer while trying to deal with her own grief, persistent constipation, and a teenage trans son who disapproves of her work. In the building where she lives, however, a bizarre phenomenon begins clogging up the most intimate room in every apartment: the bathroom. When toilets turn into deadly portals with a life of their own, Malu is forced to confront personal and family ghosts that cannot simply be flushed away. Directed by Gustavo Vinagre and Gurcius Gewdner and produced by Rodrigo Teixeira (a MOTELX guest in 2023), this Brazilian horror comedy, which premiered at the Rotterdam International Film Festival, combines gore, scatological humour and magnificent production design with themes of parenthood, trauma, spirituality, ecology, class and gender identity.
