Premiered at the Venice International Film Festival, this documentary reveals the extraordinary story of how John Boorman accepted the challenge of directing the big-budget sequel to “The Exorcist” and how his bold, surreal and deeply singular vision gave rise to one of the most notorious failures in Hollywood history. Following the success of “Point Blank” and “Deliverance”, Boorman was given the opportunity by Warner Bros. to direct a sequel to one of cinema’s greatest phenomena. The result divided critics and audiences, becoming a commercial disaster that nearly brought his career to an end. Featuring testimonies from John Boorman, Linda Blair, Joe Dante, Mike Flanagan and others, the film revisits a failure that time has helped reassess, celebrating the courage to take risks and the value of creative freedom.
