Bliss

Bliss

A film by Joe Begos

USA, 2019, 80'

Dezzy, a brilliant painter facing the worst creative block of her life turns to anything she can to complete her masterpiece, spiralling into a hallucinatory hellscape of drugs, sex, and violence in the sleazy underbelly of Los Angeles. Gradually, she finds herself suffering from terrifying visions and unable to resist her newfound dangerous impulses. From the director of “Almost Human” (MOTELX 2014), inspired by the work of Gaspar Noé, who Begos considers to be «the best filmmaker currently working», and aiming to do for LA what Ferrara did for NYC in the 70s and 80s, “Bliss” captures in Super 16 mm an intense and visceral performance by Dora Madison, on her first lead role in a feature film. World première at the Tribeca Film Festival.
