. «Bewitched» is the winner of the MOTELx 2012 Award (17.09.2012)

The jury of the MOTELx Award – Best Portuguese Horror Short Film 2012 selected the film «Bewitched/A Bruxa de Arroios», directed by Manuel Pureza, from 10 shorts selected for competition. The film "combines gore with visual humour, a very effective art direction and an excellent performance by Rita Blanco".

Besides the money prize of €3,000, from this edition on, the winning short will also receive the Méliès d'Argent, being selected to the Méliès d'Or for Best European Short Film, awarded every year in October at the Sitges Film Festival in Spain, by the European Fantastic Film Festivals Federation (EFFFF).

The award also comprises video post-production services at Pixel Bunker (€5,000), audio post-production services at Obviosom (€3,000), a voucher for Odd School (€800), and an inspirational weekend at one of the hotels of the chain Hotéis Belver.

The jury decided to give a special mention to the film «The Kingdom/O Reino» by Paulo Castilho, "an absurdist and existentialist drama, where Akira Kurosawa and Samuel Becket meet at the top of a mountain".

The jury of the MOTELx Award 2012 was composed by musicians and film-makers Filipe Melo («I’ll See You in My Dreams», «Um Mundo Catita») and Paulo Furtado (The Legendary Tigerman), and by director Pål Sletaune («Babycall»), considered by Variety one of the 10 most promising directors worldwide.
