Patrick Mendes was born in Rhône, France, in 1981, and came to Sintra, Portugal, when he was 5 years old. He majored in Antropology, and, later, in film editing and directing, having worked with Pedro Costa, João Canijo, Miguel Gomes, Werner Schroeter, and Eugène Green.
